    ARTIST BIO
Carl Gustaf Skoglund, born April 3, 1923 in Ingelstad, Östra Torsås parish, Kronoberg county, died October 8, 2003 in Söndrum, Halmstad, was a Swedish painter, draftsman and graphic artist.

Skoglund started painting in the late 1940s and studied under Bengt Blomqvist at Konstgillet's painting school in Borås 1949–1951. He furthered his education with Torsten Renqvist at Valand's painting school in Gothenburg 1956–1959, which led to a marked change in his art when the previous realistic rendering was replaced by an abstract painting. Separately, he exhibited several times at Galleri Gustaf Skoglund in Halmstad and in Helsingborg, Varberg and Söndrum.
Together with Jan-Erik Nilsson and Ivan Johansson he exhibited in Växjö and together with Ulf Aschan and Stig Anå in Karlskrona and together with Nils G Stenquist and Olle Agnell in Eslöv. He participated in a number of collective exhibitions with various art associations as well as with the group Halmstadkonstnärer and Liljevalchs konsthall's Stockholm salons 1958–1966.

Among Skoglund's public works are decorations for the Växjö hospital, the Naturbrukgymnasiet in Ingelstad, the County Hospital in Halmstad. He was a permanent member of Halmstad's artist colony. In the generation closest to the Halmstad group, his name was one of those that was always mentioned together with fellow painters of more or less the same age as Hardy Strid, Olle Agnell, Alvar Jonson, Nils Johanson and Hans Fagerström.

Skoglund's art consists of still lifes, expressionist landscapes, portraits and model studies done in oil or tempera. Skoglund is represented at Växjö museum, Borås art museum, Halland art association, Halmstad municipality and Stockholm city.
