  • A mid-century painting by Swedish artist Arne Roland Andersson (1915-1982) depicting a coastal landscape. This lovely composition has  beautiful movement, with an uplifting palette of blue, green and yellow. Oil on board, signed. Presented in its original cloth and wood frame.

    Painting in good vintage condition. Original frame has a few little marks and some wear to outer edges, with original backing paper left in situ. Please refer to all photos.

    ARTIST BIO
    Arne Roland Andersson, born August 6, 1915 in Gislaved, Båraryd parish in Jönköping County, died March 4, 1982 in Gothenburg Cathedral Parish, was a Swedish artist, with signature ARA.

    Arne Andersson trained at the Slöjdföreningen's school in Gothenburg  1939-42 for Hjalmar Eldh and Nils Wedel and then at Valand's Målarkola, Gothenburg 1942-45 for Nils Nilsson. He made study trips to Denmark in 1946, Norway in 1948, France in 1951 and Italy in 1956-57.

    In 1942, Arne Andersson received the Trade Association's public commendation, the school's plaque and its scholarship. He received the San Michele scholarship in 1954-55 for six and a half months and in 1956-57 for seven months, as well as a scholarship from King Gustaf V's Jubilee Fund in 1956.

    Andersson's exhibitions included The Gothenburg Art Association's 1946 exhibition at the Art Museum, Konsthallen's December exhibition 1945-47, "Gothenburg Art" 1948 at Kviberg. He exhibited at all art associations in Gothenburg at the time, also at Galleri Brinken Stockholm in 1952 with very good reviews.
