Huge Antique French Copper Vat

Stunning, simply huge antique French 19th century riveted copper vat with beautiful aged patina of shimmering copper and verdigris, and over a century of use evident in its almost 'hammered' surfaces. It has old riveted repairs, 3 carry handles and a spout. Slightly rounded base. 

 

It is difficult to convey its enormous size in photographs, but it is of very grand scale.

 

This lovely vat was sourced from the perfume region of Grasse, where it was used by one of France's most renowned parfumeries for the process of extracting the essential oil of lavender used in creating fragrances.

 

It would make a superb pot for a large specimen plant, or a splendid  architectural piece.
